My heart goes out to the families and friends of Oklahoma State University women’s basketball coach Kurt Budke, assistant coach Miranda Serna and Olin and Paula Branstetter, who died in a plane crash late Thursday afternoon.

We’re less than 11 years removed from another airplane crashed on the Plains of eastern Colorado, killing 10 members of the OSU men’s basketball team family. Thursday’s tragedy not only hurts every orange-clad Cowboy and Cowgirl across this country, but also it serves as a reminder for those who died a decade ago.

My heart breaks for those closest to it all, but I know the people in Stillwater well, and I know they’ll rebound well. They will honor those four friends with respect, and it will be powerful.
