The eliminator pen of bareback horses are out tonight, and of the 11 world championships represented, none of the three cowboys – Kaycee Feild (4 gold buckles), Bobby Mote (4) and Will Lowe (3) – were able to score 70 points.
All three had troubles. Lowe had the highest-marked ride with a 69.5, followed by Mote with 67.5 and Feild with 67.
Feild held a solid place in the average by staying on and getting a score. He was ever so close to bucking off. Four cowboys hit the dirt before the qualifying eight seconds. It reminded me of the bareback riding short round at Dodge City Roundup this past summer, when only six of the 12 cowboys earned qualified rides.
